Your initial appointment will consist of a consultation explaining your diagnosis and treatment options. If preferred, sometimes surgery can be performed the same day as the consultation. However, a complex medical history or treatment plan will require an evaluation and a second appointment to provide treatment on another day. Many insurance companies also require that an authorization request be submitted to them prior to scheduling any surgical procedures. Our office staff is well-versed in insurance requirements and can help you schedule your appointments accordingly. Normal consultation fees range from $55 – $95.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:

  • Your surgical referral slip and any X-rays if applicable
  • A list of medications you are presently taking
  • If you have medical or dental insurance, bring the necessary identification cards.

IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation visit. All patients, regardless of age, utilizing their parent/guardians insurance policies should be accompanied by that parent/guardian.

A pre-operative consultation and physical examination is mandatory for patients undergoing surgery. All patients scheduled for I.V. anesthesia must have nothing to eat or drink for six (6) hours prior to your surgery. You will also need an adult/parent to stay in our facility while you are in surgery, be able to take your post-operative instructions and prescriptions, be available to drive you home and watch over you for the remainder of the day. Most procedures are accompished within one to one and one half hours.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, asthma, etc.) or if you are currently taking any medication (i.e. heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.)

If your dentist or physician has taken appropriate x-rays, you may request that they forward them to our office. If there is not enough time, please pick them up and bring them to our office. We use panoramic radiographs, which show all areas surrounding the tooth structure and include roots and nerve pathways. It is necessary that provided x-rays be current and taken no sooner than twelve months prior to your appointment. Usually, paper copies of digital panoramic radiographs are of insufficient quality for our use, although we are often able to use high-quality digital panoramic radiographs printed on photo paper. Single periapical radiographs can sometimes be used for single tooth extractions. We cannot accept or use bitewing x-rays. If submitted x-rays are unacceptable, if no previous x-rays were taken, or if additional films are necessary, they can be taken at our facility by our staff. Our charge for a panoramic radiograph is $55-$85 and is payable at the time of service.
